Before stepping into to review the movie "Bully" I want to get a few things out into the clear: Regarding the movie's rating, I could care less about it. It has no relevance to the movie besides giving it some buzz for people to see it.  The second thing I want to get out there is that I was on both ends of the cyber-bullying spectrum in the 7th grade.  The god-awful graveyard that used to be MySpace was my refuge for ridiculous outbursts against my other classmates.  I used to instigate one girl in particular, we'd go back and forth arguing for months over nothing.  Near the end of school I sent her a despicably nasty message; she showed it to my homeroom teacher, and why she never showed it to the principal I'll never know.  On the other end a kid threatened to beat me up online.  The next day.I showed the message to the guidance counselor and he got suspended for a few weeks. Cyber-bullying absolutely destroyed my seventh grade year.  ...

It was brought to my attention literally minutes ago that a theater chain (Regal, I believe) will have the ability to allow texting in certain theaters.  To that I say -----> Texting allowed in movie theaters?  Are they gonna tell us next that people can bring in their pets? Maybe microwave their frozen dinners in the theater?  Although it is just a movie theater, it's not your living room!  Have a little respect! There are dozens of things that tick me off when I go into a theater, but the big three are: Making out (One couple did it through most of "Thor" with a kid sitting right beside them) Movie commentary (Not unless your last name is "Ebert") And texting.  Actually I don't even care if you are texting.  It's having your phone out.  The light's a distraction from the theater.  Also, if you're playing "Words with Friends," I'll be tempted to look at that screen instead of the massive one in front of me. Bane from "TDKR" Although it's outrageously early, I like guessing next year's Best Picture nominees!  I do it 3 times a year; I chose 2 random dates (April 25 and the first of September) and the day after the Golden Globes (Usually I'm most accurate on the last date.)  Last year I guessed 4 out of the 10 movies I chose both dates.  Let's see how I do this year. BEST PICTURE NOMINEES 2012: (I do it out of 10, even though it could be 5-10) The Dark Knight Rises Prometheus The Hobbit Brave To Rome with Love Les Miserables Life of Pi Django Unchained The Great Gatsby Moonrise Kingdom Woody Allen working on "To Rome with Love" So I'm thinking 2012 might be the Oscar year of blockbusters!  There are also the inclusion of great director's work, Tarantino ( Django ), Wes Anderson ( Moonrise ) and Ang Lee ( Pi ).  Pixar has also had 2 Best Picture nominees in the race in the past few years, so "Brave" is a strong ...

AAAHHHH! My inner nerd (who am I kidding, I'm nerd inside and out) has exploded.  "The Hunger Games" was incredible, "Dark Knight Rises" looks incredible, and now "Avengers" TV spots are popping out everywhere.  I won't lie, between the 3 superhero movies coming out this year (the other being the Spider-Man reboot) "Avengers" lands at a solid #2.  Why not 1? Well...it took a couple of reasons to truly realize how great "The Dark Knight" was.  I had a similar experience with "Inception," you have to see Nolan's movies a few times to soak in.  There's no denying "TDKR" will break insane sales and might get a Best Picture nomination to make up for the predecessor's loss.  Any other year "Avengers" would be at the top, though.  Since 2008 when superhero movies were saved (Iron Man, Hulk reboot, TDK) the suspense has been building up to this film, and I've tried to avoid the online trai...

Not since "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" and the last few "Twilight" films has a film generated such a massive buzz as "The Hunger Games."  And that is where the comparisons end. There's no need to rehash what you've already heard: Jennifer Lawrence is hot, kids kill kids, and it's "Battle Royale 2012."  I've yet to see "Battle Royale," but the two things aforementioned are true.  The books are one of the best young adult series....published. Ever.  That's why it's necessary to read the books to fully get the movie.  This won't be a chore, you breeze past the first book and are halfway through the second before realizing you haven't gotten out of your chair to take a break.
