I'm very behind on this but I figured I'd cover it anyway!  There were some surprises after all, I was shocked to see Clooney not get his 2nd Oscar. I hate to say it but it is very unlikely Jean Dujardin, or should I say Oscar-winner Jean Dujardin will become a big Hollywood star, but whatever.  Meryl Streep won her 3rd Oscar, Christopher Plummer got his prize, but Octavia Spencer seemed the most overjoyed out of all of them. I think it a great thing favorite Viola Davis was the first to give Streep a standing ovation, I'm sure there'll be further nominations for her in the future.  I was glad to see Woody Allen and Alexander Payne to win for their great scripts!  I'd accepted "The Artist" was going to win Best Picture long ago, so I was...happy to see it win. My friend and fellow movie-lover Donald Lucas III stops by to give a quick review of David Fincher's latest "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo:" "Alright. So, between the immense  plot behind the story and the  struggles shown in the movie, many  moviegoers could possibly be  overwhelmed. Though the main story of the movie does take some  patience, once the ball starts rolling, it doesn't stop. The plot does in bits start when the original  reporter shows and is given his daunting task of solving this mystery behind the disappearance of  his   niece. Once Lisabeth shows up as his assistance, however, the plot goes into a sense of overdrive.  Now  before I end up spoiling the movie, I'll say that it's worth watching. Even though the plot  begins a bit slowly, it depicts the struggles each of the protagonists had to go through to get to that  current situation together."  ...

Host Ricky Gervais proved tamer and even funnier this time around with the 69th Golden Globes held last night!  The night had a few surprises, but at the end here's what I really got: George Clooney, Octavia Spencer and Christopher Plummer are definitely winning Oscars this year after victories at both the Globes and the Critic's Choice Awards.  Also "The Artist," which I just saw, will most likely be taking home Best Picture.  Really the only wild card is Best Actress.  Meryl Streep won best actress in a drama last night for her outstanding role in "The Iron Lady" and Viola Davis won Best Actress for "The Help" on Critic's Choice Awards night.  Two very deserving ladies, I can't wait to see how it'll end up. DVD REVIEW: 9: (PG-13) You'd be surprised how big of a cast this movie has even though it seemed like such a small little movie back in 2009. I have all the Oscar connections at the bottom of the page. 9 starts out as you see a little ( steampunk , is what the director Shane Acker calls it) being made, and the number on his back reads 9. Fast forward a few years, and you see this little guy come to life. He has no voice yet, so he settles out in the post-apocalyptic world that Earth has become. The viewer gets a glimpse at the awful world, full of rubble, filth, and unwanted disgust that everybody had tossed before starting something that the posters on the tattered walls call "The Revolution." Man had fought against Machines, but both had lost, due to the deadly gas the Machines let off. But, apparently, steampunks were not affected.
