The WORST picture of the year

The Razzie nominees will be presented Monday, but before they had the first word I'd like to throw in my 2 cents. If I hadn't specified this already, my favorite film of the year was the groundbreaking Avatar. I think in all I've seen about 15 or so movies released in 2009. I saw some very amazing movies that just stunned me (I Love You , Man, Invictus and Coraline ) and some movies that just epically failed ( G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra and The Uninvited). But there was one that I saw that was just so complicated, confusing and unlikeable, that 4, count 'em 4 people walked out! I wish I was one of them. Here it is, the movie Julia Roberts amazingly got a Golden Globe nod for: Duplicity Another movie I saw this year that was complicated and Clive Owen was The International with my friend for my birthday celebration, which was hard to follow, but had a rewarding ending and the action sequences were brilliant. Please DO NOT see Duplicity.

About the Oscars.....

Image
Whoa. Last night.....was the Golden Globes. Oscar predictors. I'd like to think so. Last year " Slumdog Millionaire ," a very good tale about romance and rupees in India, took home the Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Picture, (which I personally think " The Curious Case of Benjamin Button " deserved both). Does this mean Avatar , which would majorly tick off everybody in Hollywood, who wanted this movie to fail after Cameron's other little movie became the highest-grossing film of all time, and additionally won Best Picture, and who are currently rooting for the little-seen indie drama " The Hurt Locker ," very interestingly directed by James Cameron ( Avatar director)'s ex, Kathyrn Bigelow. It's all kinda complicated. Speaking of which, the Meryl Streep comedy, It's Complicated got SQUAT last night, though a relative says it was hilarious. Anyway, these are all things to think about, and I don't care who gets the Best Director Osc...

Golden Globes tonight boys and girls

The 2nd best night in Cinema! Did anybody see the Critic's Choice Awards? No one? Good. Kristen C, while good in the half-baked rom-com "Four Christmases" was completely offensive to both the actors and the viewers. It's one thing to make fun of the actors for solid, belly laughs. But making fun of "New Moon" (which I don't care for) while the girl from it is nominated for one of your awards? And a flatulence joke about "The Hurt Locker," a movie about the IRAQ WAR? Just terrible. It didn't help Sandra Bullock saying an expletive without the censors catching it, and her young, nominated costar (Jae Head) of "The Blind Side," was there. Nice. So it was somewhat a disaster, but not full blown Janet Jackson-Super Bowl bad. Anyway, here are the major winners, I hate technical awards as much as the next guy: Best Film: The Hurt Locker Best Actor: Jeff Bridges/ Crazy Heart Best Actress: Meryl Streep/ Julie & Julia tied with Sandra ...

What deserves Best Picture this year.

Strong Oscar contenders for Best Picture this year are "Precious," "Hurt Locker," "Up in the Air" and "Avatar." I've only seen "Avatar" and it's absolutely fantastic I can tell you. "Invictus" SHOULD win Best Actor for Freeman, it was a great movie on how Mandella brought a racially divded nation together. Also "Up" was great, better than last year's "WALL-E" in my opinion, a nearly flawless movie with Dug, the talking d- "SQUIRELL....."...what was I saying? I have a goal to see all the Best Picture movies that have won, (81 as of this post) and I'm saving the grittier ones ("Departed," "Platoon," "Crash") for when I'm older so I can appreciate it better. Coming back to 2009 Oscars, in reality, "Hurt Locker" will probably take it, a movie no one's ever seen or heard of in school. But who hasn't heard of/seen "Up" or ...

My first blog

I gotta say this is pretty sweet. I like just writing and stuff, mostly about movies, which I really enjoy, so expect movie reviews and everything. Just a blog to fill time.
