MTV MOVIE AWARD NOMINATIONS 2012!
Since there are rather obscure categories (Gut-Wrenching Performance? Best Kiss? And now Best Villain is referred to as "Best On-Screen Dirt-bag?" Geez) in the MTV Movie Awards, I'll only cover a few major categories. "Hunger Games" and "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" appears so often it's almost ridiculous, but here are the big categories ("*" indicates my prediction to win):
BEST CAST:
BEST CAST:
- Bridesmaids
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
- The Hunger Games*
- 21 Jump Street
- The Help
It's good to see actual Oscar movies nominated for this awards show. The only movie actually in theaters right now from this list is "Hunger Games" and "21 Jump Street" (barely). You want to know what was nominated last time they had a Best Cast award? "Fantastic Four" and "The Dukes of Hazzard." Yeah. That's real.
BEST ACTOR:
- Joseph Gordon-Levitt- 50/50
- Ryan Gosling- Drive
- Josh Hutcherson- The Hunger Games*
- Daniel Radcliffe- Deathly Hallows: Part 2
- Channing Tatum- The Vow
Though the last nominee listed is laughable (I'm still angry over "G.I. Joe") the other nominees are fine, even though they all could be seen on the walls in poster-form on a teenage girl's dorm.
BEST ACTRESS:
- Jennifer Lawrence- The Hunger Games*
- Rooney Mara- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
- Emma Stone- Crazy, Stupid, Love
- Emma Watson- Deathly Hallows: Part 2
- Kristen Wiig- Bridesmaids
While it'd be cool (and hot) to see the 2 Emma's duke it out for the popcorn award, this is obviously going to Lawrence, who brought every tween's favorite heroine to life.
BEST VILLAIN (AKA ON-SCREEN DIRT-BAG):
- Bryce Dallas Howard- The Help*
- Jon Hamm- Bridesmaids
- Jennifer Aniston- Horrible Bosses
- Colin Farrell- Horrible Bosses
- Oliver Cooper- Project X
I haven't seen any of the movies listed (due to the R-ratings) besides "The Help," but I'm going to go ahead and guess that no screen person was as condescending, cruel and dismissive as Howard's "Hilly." Interesting note: Hamm's role in "Bridesmaids" isn't credited, even though he's in the trailer.
BEST MOVIE:
- The Hunger Games*
- The Help
- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part1
- Deathly Hallows: Part 2
- Bridesmaids
If tradition follows (and I hope to God it doesn't) the fourth Twilight installment will win, like the entire franchise has since 2008. But with strong competition from actually good movies, I'd say its chances are dim, and "Hunger Games" has a strong chance of taking it home. We all don't watch the show for awards anyway, mainly for the antics that go on in-between awards presentations.
