EVERY ACTOR EVER NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY/OSCAR/TONY FOR PLAYING AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT!

I...don't know what this blog is anymore. Now that I'm over doing movie reviews and have been more interested in writing theatrical pieces...I still have my interest in awards shows! Bold indicates a winner in that category. If the president was largely known by his initials, I have chosen that moniker. For presidents with identical last names, I have written their full names out as they were known in their presidency.

TOTAL COUNT FOR MULTIPLE PRESIDENTIAL REPRESENTATION:

FDR: 7

Lincoln: 5

LBJ/Nixon: 4

John Adams/Truman: 3

Jefferson/JFK/Washington/Wilson: 2

NOTES:

  • Jason Robards is the only actor represented here who was nominated for two different presidential performances (Lincoln and FDR).
  • Alec Baldwin's portrayal of Trump is the most recent POTUS nominated. I smell a Biden nomination for Jim Carrey come Emmy nomination time this summer.
  • Dennis and Randy Quaid are the only siblings here who've both been nominated for presidential roles, for Clinton and LBJ respectively.
  • Bryan Cranston and Frank Langella are the only two actors who were able to be nominated in 2 different mediums for recreating their performance of the same president (LBJ and Nixon respectively).
  • Robert E. Sherwood's 1938 play Abe Lincoln in Illinois produced nominated roles for three different actors onstage, in a feature film, and in a TV movie. What can you say, it's an honest job.
